2.2. In her presentation to the delegation, Ms Mosela Phayane, Director: Rural Infrastructure Development, Department of Rural Development and Land Reform, highlighted that the area (Disake, Mokgalwaneng & Matlametlong) has a combined population of approximately 6166 and is largely dependant on cattle farming, agriculture and mining land-uses. The villages / settlements, although scattered, have a source of ground water accessible only by boreholes or well points. The presentation further explains progress, issues considered during spatial planning, challenges and interventions, as is highlighted below.
