About Pieter Groenewald

Petrus Johannes Groenewald is the Minister of Correctional Services.

He completed his military service at the Berede Centre in Potchefstroom and achieved a B.luris degree at the Potchefstroom campus of the now North West University. He also completed a postgraduate diploma in Communications, followed by a Master's degree in Management and Development and a Doctorate in Politics. He is a founding member of the Freedom Front and has undertaken many overseas study tours.

The leader of the FF Plus, Dr Groenewald is a seasoned politician who served as mayor from 1988 and who became a Member of Parliament in 1989. In addition, he also served as a member of the provincial Legislature in the North West province for two years (1999 to 2001) and, thus, has experience on all three levels of government.
