Let me cut my speech and say that some of the people died in foreign lands and are buried in those countries and some died here at home. Those who survived the hostilities and were not integrated into the SANDF have been forgotten. Their families are suffering.
It is however heartening to learn that discussions are going on between the Department of Defence and the government of Uganda about our comrades whose bones were buried there in order to repatriate them to our country for reburial. We wish them success with their good intentions.
Lastly, in this world of uncertainties, we must never allow our Defence Force to be weak. It must always be well equipped and ready for any eventuality. [Applause.] Working together, we can do more. [Applause.]
