I withdraw unconditionally. I want to emphasise that soldiers are very important. But, we as Cope are against the way the other organisation is behaving. There is no other political organisation that can use almost the same uniform as that of soldiers and also have the same guns identical to those of soldiers when they are celebrating their commemorations, except for the ANC. We tried to investigate that worldwide. According to us as Cope members, this is not right. There is no political organisation that can celebrate its function wearing a uniform that is similar to that of soldiers and even have similar guns. Minister, you have to investigate this issue.
As I recall the past few days on television- I believe that you Minister can bear witness to this - they showed some people who called themselves soldiers, and they said they will make the Western Cape ungovernable. It is not proper to portray soldiers like this because they are the ones who protect us. [Applause.]
Minister, you must really take care of this matter. Those I am talking about will see that this will happen. They will realise that later. I am a priest. [Laughter.] This is wrong - people announced on television that they will make the Western Cape ungovernable and they were wearing the soldier's uniform. If the veterans get benefits in the budget of the Department of Safety and Security, then you have to deal with this in a befitting manner.
As members of Cope, things like this must be rectified. Therefore, Minister, we as members of Cope support the Budget Vote of your department. [Interjections.] [Time expired.] [Applause.]]
