2.2.4 The annual report reflects that 424 714 complaints were received in the 2011/12 financial year. This represented an 11% increase since 2010/11. The largest number of complaints related to transfers, rehabilitation programmes, communication with families, inhumane treatment, and health care. The largest category of complaints, accounting for almost 25% of the total number of complaints is unacceptably referred to as 'other'.
