House Chairperson, I move without notice:
That the House -
1) notes that the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is held on the third Sunday of November each year;
2) further notes that the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims originated in 1993 by RoadPeace and was adopted by the United Nations in 2005 as a response to road crash victims' need for public recognition;
3) acknowledges that this is a day to remember those who died or who were injured as a result of road crashes and the plight of their loved ones who must cope with the consequences of their deaths or injuries;
4) further acknowledges that almost 4 000 people are killed and many hundreds of thousands injured on roads throughout the world every day; and
5) urges all to create acts of remembrance to help the bereaved and injured to find expression for their sorrow and give them the courage to go forward.
Agreed to.
