5.5 SOUTH AFRICAN CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY (SACAA) The South African Civil Aviation Authority was established in terms of the South African Civil Aviation Authority Act (No. 40 of 1998). The Act requires the authority to control and regulate civil aviation safety and security, oversee the implementation and compliance with the national aviation security programme, oversee the functioning and development of the civil aviation industry, and promote civil aviation safety and security.
