The second programme will focus on giving young people work exposure so that they can be prepared for work. Young people will also be involved in the national youth services. We are currently engaging with various government departments, particularly the SA National Defence Force, to see if some of the young people can be challenged in that direction, not for military training purposes but for training in other practical skills on offer in the army. So, the money will also be going in that direction. The money will also be used to intensify and expand public employment programmes such as the Expanded Public Works Programme and to increase the intake into such programmes as the health worker brigades, the National Rural Youth Service Corps, Narysec, and the community works programmes as well. We will also be using this money to support youth entrepreneurship and co- operatives as part of the entrepreneur loaning system. It will also help in working with the private sector in the promotion of work creation, particularly in those areas that have already signed up and agreed to participate.
