REPLY
(1)(a) There is a moderate shortage of staff in the Department of Home
Affairs. Delays in the filling of vacancies have been caused by
the migration of employees from the Departmentâs old structure
to the newly approved structure.
(1)(b) Staff shortages are experienced in all Business Units in the
Department. Contract workers have been employed to address
service delivery requirements.
(1)(c) & (d) A total of 693 funded posts, have been identified for
filling. The posts will be filled before the end of the 2009/10
financial year.
(2)(a) & (b)(c) As per (1)(c) & (d) above â a total of 693 posts have been
identified as critical for filling before the end of the 2009/10
financial year. The ongoing SMS migration attempts to fill them
up by the next financial year.
