Order, hon members! Order! Conclude, hon member.
Mr M S F De FREITAS: To do so would be to cast a dark cloud over the Presidency and the President himself. Not only that, these allegations will hamper Mr Maharaj from carrying out the duties he was appointed to fulfil. We cannot have a situation in which the President's spokesman needs his own spokesman.
This week, the DA wrote to the Public Protector asking her to investigate what appears to be a serious case of corruption on the part of Mac Maharaj, his wife and Mr Schabir Shaik. Until such investigation is complete, Mr Maharaj should play no further part in this government. Thank you, Speaker. [Applause.]
