Chairperson, I hereby give notice that on the next sitting day of the Council I shall move on behalf of the DA:
That the Council -
1) notes that the burning and non-delivery of school textbooks in Limpopo, Mpumalanga and other provinces is a disgrace, an embarrassment and against the human rights of our learners;
2) further notes that this unacceptable operation and handling by the ANC government, together with the waste of millions of rand, needs to be followed up by the Human Rights Commission and a charge should be laid against the Minister of Basic Education and the President of South Africa;
3) acknowledges that the delivery of textbooks in the Western Cape provincial education department is on time and correct in relation to language, grades and numbers, therefore this problem in other provinces is wrong and incomprehensible; and
4) acknowledges further that this clearly shows that the ANC government is not working and South Africa needs another political party to rule South Africa.
