Chairperson, thank you. Thank you, hon President, for your response. In light of the fact that it is a well established fact that the gender-based violence pandemic in South Africa is rooted in an unequal power in gender relations; patriarchy, homophobia, sexism, harmful discriminatory beliefs and practices that continue to view women as sex objects and of less important not only in our society but throughout the globe. What processes has the government put in place to address these proven root causes of gender-based violence, especially in building a new generation of men who respect women and treat them with the utmost dignity and value?
