(1). Whether the Council and/or Chief Executive Officer of the National Museum in Bloemfontein took a decision to phase out the use of Afrikaans at and by the museum; if not, what are the details of all steps taken by the museum to promote Afrikaans; if so, on what statutory grounds was the use of Afrikaans phased out, given that it is the second most spoken language in the Free State;
(2)(a). why is Afrikaans being excluded from the museum’s (i) Culna and (ii) Indago publications and (b) what research was conducted to evaluate the impact of excluding Afrikaans from these publications;
(3)(a). what are the details of the museum’s current language policy and (b) has he found that it complies with the provision of the Use of Official Languages Act, Act 12 of 2012, that there must be a choice of three official languages in which the public must be served officially;
(4). what steps has the museum taken to (a) promote Sesotho as an indigenous language in the museum and (b) establish Sesotho as a scientific language? NW2476E
