372. Mr O de Beer (COPE-WC) to ask the Minister of Police:
(1) Whether he has been informed that the holding cells in the Vredenburg
police station are not usable as a result of the dire condition of the
infrastructure; if not, what is the position in this regard; if so,
what are the relevant details;
(2) whether this police station is on the priority list in terms of the
infrastructure development plan; if not, why not; if so, what year is
allocated to accommodate this police station in this regard?

REPLY:
1) Yes.
The owner of the property is currently busy with renovations at the
Vredenburg police station and the outstanding work is expected to be
completed shortly.
2) The building of a new police station for Vredenburg police is
currently not included in the South African Police Serviceâs five (5)
year infrastructure programme for the period until 2015/16.
