462.   Mr H B Groenewald (DA-NW) to ask the Minister of Justice and
Constitutional Development:
(1)Â Â Â Â Â Â Whether his department has conducted its own investigations into
the SA Board of Sheriffs in the North West, following the
investigations by the forensic auditors that found irregularities of
mismanagement, price gouging and a culture of impunity and threats
within; if not, why not; if so, (a) how many cases were identified, (b)
in which magisterial districts and (c) what corrective action has been
initiated;
(2)Â Â Â Â Â Â whether any officials were suspended in this regard; if not, why
not; if so, what are the relevant details? Â

REPLY:-
No. I am unfortunately not aware of a statutory body called the South
African Board for Sheriffs in the North West. (my underlining). There
is only one statutory body established in terms of section 7 of the
Sheriffs Act, 1986 (Act 90 of 1986) Â namely, the South African Board
for Sheriffs that is situated in, Cape Town. It would therefore be
appreciated if the Honorable Member could rephrase the question or
provide me with further information to enable the Department to
investigate the matter as Government is determined to root out any
form of corruption.
