901. THE MINISTER OF WATER AND ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS ANSWERS:
1. The company referred to is currently under investigation for its
operation and the integrity of its facility. The purpose of an
investigation by a team of professionals (including certified engineers)
now being undertaken in response to the pre-compliance notice issued by
the Department, is to determine whether the hazardous waste treatment
operations poses a public health risk and, if so, what steps must be
taken to ameliorate the health risk.
2. Based on the outcome of the above investigation, a decision will be
taken on whether or not the Department can and will allow the facility to
continue operating.
