(1) Whether he has been in continuous discussions with (a) the South African Chamber of Baking to win their support to reduce sodium gradually to 370mg per 100g in bread, (b)(i) dairies, meat processors and (ii) manufacturers of margarine and potato chips to reduce sodium to a comparable level and (c) all distributors of food to follow suit; if not, why not; if so, (i) what progress has he made in this regard and (ii) is he satisfied with the cooperation; (2) whether he intends to introduce legislation that will require all manufacturers and distributors to indicate on their packaging (a) what amount of sodium is legally recommended by his department and (b) by what amount and percentage the product for sale exceeds that recommendation; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?
