Mrs A T Lovemore (DA) to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:
(1) (a) What is the average time that her Department takes for processing
temporary residence permit applications, (b) what is the desired
turnaround time, (c) what is the current backlog with regard to each
category of temporary residence permit application that has not been
processed within the desired time frame;
(2) whether the centralisation has reduced the turnaround time; if not,
why not; if so, what are the details of the improvement;
(3) whether any problems are being experienced with the dispatching of
permits to Regional Offices; if so, what are the (a) reasons and (b)
further relevant details;
(4) whether any problems are being experienced with the electronic
Track and Trace System; if so, what are the (a) reasons and (b)
further relevant details?

(1)(a) The average time it takes the Department to process temporary
residence permit applications is 30 days.
(1)(b) The desired turnaround time for the finalisation of temporary
residence permit applications is 30 days.
(1)(c) At this stage, the backlog has been cleared.
(2) Yes. The centralisation has reduced the turnaround time.
(3)(a)&(b) No.
(4)(a)&(b) No.
