(INTERNAL QUESTION PAPER NO. 40)
Mr M J R de Villiers (DA-WC) to ask the Minister of Health:

designed to deal with its burden of diseases; if not, what is the position
in this regard; if so, what are the relevant details;
(2) whether South Africaâs current health system has taken our burden of
diseases into account; if not, why not; if so, what are the reasons for
this problem statement in the Green Paper;
(3) what is South Africaâs burden of diseases?
CW800E
REPLY:
Yes, otherwise what will the health system be designed for?
The report on the quadruple burden of disease was released by the Lancet in
August 2009. Since then our health programmes have been planned in such a
way that this burden is considered.
I hereby enclose a copy of the Lancet for the Honourable Memberâs
information.
