Mrs J D Kilian (Cope) to ask the Minister of Communications:
Whether, pursuant to the dismissal of the suspended chief financial officer
(CFO) of the SA Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) for her role in the payment
of the R1 million towards the ICT Indaba in Cape Town, his department
investigated the matter to determine (a) who authorised or acted as co-
signatories for the payment of R1 million rand and (b) whether the SABC
Board approved the R1 million payment; if not, in each case, why not; if
so, in each case, what are the relevant details?

REPLY:
I have been advised by the Department as follows:-
a) It was co-signed by the Group Chief Executive Officer.
b) The SABC Board did not approve the payment. The amount of R1 million is
below the threshold value that requires Board approval as per the SABC
Delegation of Authority Framework.
