Speaker, Minister in the last four years, government has spent over R1 trillion on infrastructure projects. Most, if not all, of this money has been given to external contractors. Most of these contracts are inflated and are often linked to corrupt tender processes. Across the world, states have their own construction companies to avoid inflated contracts, corruption and inefficiency. Is it not time South Africa also establishes its state construction company? Thank you.
Speaker, I thank
the hon Sonti for her question. In the delivery of infrastructure, we use a number of different models. Let me take the example of school build, which the hon Motshekga and the Department of Basic Education is responsible for.
