On both sides of the House, members spoke about the conditions of poverty and hardships that many of our people still live under. Although we have raised millions of people out of absolute poverty, although we have built well over three million houses, provided water and electricity, there are still more than two million families that live in informal settlements, and nearly a third of children under the ages of 5 years are stunted due to severe and long-term malnutrition that they experience.
