Deputy Speaker, I wish that the DA didn't have to do the job of national government in the Western Cape, but because of the Minister's inability to do his job in the Western Cape we have to do it for him. However, that is not my statement.
It appears that the ANC has lost control of the discipline of its members. A month ago, ANC Youth League members burned down a DA youth activist's home in Tambo Square, destroying all of his possessions.
Earlier this week, a student affiliated to the Democratic Alliance Students Organisation, Daso, was stabbed by an ANC Youth League member at Tswane University of Technology in Polokwane. [Interjections.]
Last night at the University of Limpopo, DA members were assaulted and had their property destroyed by a group of ANC Youth League thugs running amok.
Thugs!
They disrupted a Daso meeting. These thugs, led by the current SRC president and secretary general, confronted senior DA youth leaders and hit students with chairs and other objects.
As usual, the ANC Youth League, or what is left of it, will issue statements distancing it from these incidents. Enough is enough, it's time for the ANC to rein in its members and take strong action against those involved in criminal activity instead of dishing out more hugs. [Laughter.] Rest assured that the DA knows that these are just the last acts of a dying organisation. If you thought we would be the slightest bit intimidated for even one minute, you've got us completely wrong. [Applause.]
