House Chairperson, I move without notice:
That the House -
1) notes that every month of October since the 17th century, Balobedu of Modjadji, the Rain Queen, holds thanksgiving prayers for rain and fertility of the soil;
2) further notes that these prayer meetings are accompanied by cultural celebrations to raise awareness of water and environmental conservation and protection;
3) acknowledges that the thanksgiving prayers also mark the beginning of the New Year; and
4) believes that this celebration inculcates water and environmental conservation values necessary to address the challenges of climate change.
Agreed to.
