Hon Speaker, I move without notice: That the House -
1) notes that on Sunday, 22 July 2012, South African cricketer Hashim Mohamed Amla became the first South African to score a test triple century against England at The Oval;
2) further notes that Amla's record of 300 runs in an innings turned the first test against England on its head and laid the foundation for a remarkable push for victory by South Africa;
3) acknowledges that Amla bettered the previous best score by a South African - 278 by team mate A B de Villiers - and became only the sixth person to score a test triple hundred in England following Don Bradman, Leonard Hutton, John Edrich, Bobby Simpson and Graham Gooch; and
4) congratulates Amla on this major achievement and wishes him well in the remaining years of his career.
Agreed to.
