Hon Chairperson, I move without notice:
That the Council - 1) notes that Mr de Villiers, now appointed as Western Cape Provincial Whip in the NCOP, appreciates the trust and support given to him by hon Premier Helen Zille and Leader of the Democratic Alliance;
2) notes that Mr de Villiers also wants to thank hon Watty Watson, the DA leader in the NCOP, for his trust and support in him and his work in the NCOP;
3) is sure that he will receive support and respect from all the honourable members in the NCOP;
4) notes that Mr de Villiers wants to convey his appreciation to the hon Ntwanambi, the Chief Whip of the NCOP, for her support, especially in India, and that of the Whippery study tour in conveying information and supporting the hon Jac Bekker with the bereavement of his wife; and
5) further notes that Mr de Villiers asks and prays to God that He will grant His mercy, blessing and wisdom on all in the NCOP.
Order! Are there any objections to the motion?
Chairperson, we do not know who he is referring to when he says, "I". He started his motion with "I", and we don't know who "I" is.
Well, I called hon Mr de Villiers.
Maybe he should clarify this because I do not understand that motion. Who is referred to as "I"?
I called for hon de Villiers to move the motion. Let us proceed; that is not a point of order. [Laughter.]
Motion agreed to in accordance with section 65 of the Constitution.
I now call up the hon member Mr Faber.
Chairperson, hon Mashamaite has already moved the motion I was going to move.
