The ANC-led government is working for the realisation of an integrated system of education and training that provides equal opportunities to all children irrespective of race, colour, sex, class, creed, language, age, religion and geographical location.
Last week Wednesday, Statistics SA released a survey that indicated an increase in children attending school between the ages nought and nine years. The percentage of children between nought and four years has increased from 7,4% in 2002 to 16,9% to date; while for the same period, for the ages between five and nine years it has increased from 79,9% to 88,6%. This survey indicates that our efforts to provide universal access to education are making good progress and we are on course to realising one of the Millennium Development. Ke a leboga.
