Mr Luyenge was involved in ANC activities (1986-2009) as POPCRU Treasurer in the former Transkei (1989) and as Provincial Deputy Secretary for SANCO (2007-2009). He holds an Honorary Doctorate in Community Development (2004) and also obtained his Masters in Public Administration. He is a member of the South African Association for Public Administration and Management.
