About Senzeni Zokwana
Mr Zokwana is currently serving as the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries since 2014. He joined the National Union of Mine Workers (NUM) and became Shaft Steward in 1984. In 1985 he was elected to branch executive committee in President Steyn Mine. Between 1987 and 1988 he was elected as branch chairperson and vice regional secretary. Mr Zokwana has served as the president of NUM since 2000.
In 2005, Mr Zokwana was elected as President of the International Federation of Chemical, Energy, Mine and General Workers' Union in 2005 and was subsequently re-elected in November 2011. Additionally, he was elected as Vice-President of the global union federation Industrial Global Union on June 19, 2012. Mr Zokwana became an MP and was appointed Minister in May 2014. Source: (gov.za)
