About Senzeni Zokwana

Mr Zokwana served as Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (2014 - 2019). He joined the National Union of Mine Workers (NUM) and became Shaft Steward in 1984. In 1985 he was elected to the branch executive committee in President Steyn Mine. Between 1987 and 1988 he was elected as branch chairperson and vice regional secretary. Mr Zokwana has served as the President of NUM (2000 - 2014).

In 2005, Mr Zokwana was elected as President of the International Federation of Chemical, Energy, Mine and General Workers' Union in 2005 and was subsequently re-elected in November 2011. Additionally, he was elected as Vice-President of the global union federation Industrial Global Union on June 19, 2012. Source: (gov.za)
