Mr Bond worked as a councillor for the Democratic Alliance between November 2001 and November 2022 in the following municipalities:
uMgungundlovu District Council Mpofana Municipality (Mooi-River) uMgeni Municipality (Howick and Hilton) uMswati Municipality (Wartburg) Inkumbitini Municipality (Camperdown) Richmond Municipality uMsunduzi Municipality (Pietermaritzburg)
He previously served in the office of the Auditor General between January 1982 and May 1993. He attended Durban Tech between 1981 and 1983, where he studied Civil Engineering Survey.Between 1978 and 2017 he was also a Warrant Officer for the South African National Defence Force.
Mr Bond was appointed an Additional Member on Defence and Military Veterans on 21 April 2023.
