About Jeremy Cronin

Mr Cronin was born on 12 September 1949. He serves as the Deputy General-Secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP), a position he has held since 1995. He became a Member of Parliament in 1999. His illustrious political career includes co-convening the Reconstruction and Development Programme Drafting Committee and being part of the negotiating Team at the Convention for a Democratic South Africa (CODESA). Mr Cronin lectured at UCT between 1973 and 1976 and was editor of the African Communist Magazine. He has served as Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works
