About Cornelia Carol September

Ms September is the current Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training. She served as the Minister of Human Settlements following the recall of Minister Sexwale on 10 July 2013. She had been a Member of Parliament for the African National Congress (ANC) since 1999, and served on various Portfolio Committees. She had formerly served as Chairperson for the Portfolio Committee on Water Affairs & Forestry, but also served as Chief Whip in the National Assembly from 2004 until her appointment. She obtained a Masters degree in Economics from Warwick University. The former trade unionist worked at Rex TrueForm factory for longer than 20 years.
