LiveMagSA: Life without electricity

This week, Minister of Public Enterprises announced that South Africans should expect load shedding to continue this winter. The news comes a month after the Department of Energy appeared before the Portfolio Committee on Energy and brought them up to date with the progress of their “Five Point Plan” to address the energy crisis. With load shedding continuing to rock the country, most of everyone’s attention has been on restoring power to the grid and avoiding more power cuts. But what about those who’ve never had any electricity to begin with? We spent a day with a family in Khayelitsha, Cape Town to see the reality of life without electricity.
