Mpowele Mexan Swathe's plenary attendance record for Feb-Apr 2013 and 2012.
Mr Swathe was born and raised in Limpopo and completed matric in 1992. He qualified as a teacher in 1996. He also completed additional courses in computer studies and international politics at the Friedrich Naumann Foundation in Germany. Mr Swathe entered the political arena in the late 1980’s while working for the Black Conscious Movement and later joined the UDF in 1990 and the ANC. He retired from politics in 1996 and got employed as a Coordinator for the Community Development Forum in Potgietersus. He returned to politics in 2000 and joined the DP. Upon his return to politics Mr Swathe made great strides in his political career and led the DA’s campaign for the Municipal Elections in 2000. He got elected to Parliament in 2004 serving on the Water Affairs and Forestry committee and got re-elected to Parliament in 2009 and was appointed as the Shadow Minister of Rural Development and Land Affairs.
