Dear Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs,
With the recent developments and media reports on the visit of a Statesman fro UAE it appears that consideration has not been taken with regards to the soldiers that are based at Bulembu military base.
My concern is that in all of this these soldier are being robbed of their right to keep themselves prepared and ready to protect and serve since at present we noticed that virtually nothing is happening on the said base.
Now we wonder what is going to happen to those soldiers as they were supposedly trained to form part of the SANDF elite force.(I stand to be corrected)
Why were they not placed at another base during this time?
Them not doing anything except reporting to base doesn't do them any good and it serves to paint a wrong picture of the role of soldiers as a whole.
What are the way forward for these soldiers currently based at Bulembu Military base?
Where does the Minister of defence stand on this matter?
Did the Premier of the Eastern Cape consult with the Minister of Defence before taking a decision that affects both a group of soldiers
policemen and the South African Community?
What is worse is that these soldiers have just returned from DRC and now they are treated as if they are no longer needed.
Why is this not addressed. Do Ministers place so little value on the role of our soldiers that a foreign national can cause so much havoc in our military bases?
Can this committee give some clarification on what will happen next and how they will engage the minister of Defence in resolving the issue around this base and it's Soldiers.

Truly South African
