Equal Education, a community and membership-based organisation that advocates for quality and equality in the South African education system, is hosting a fundraising event - “Say Africa! Say Education! A night with Vusi Mahlasela and Friends”- on 24 August 2014 at 6pm at the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town.

The concert will provide an opportunity for those attending to learn more about the South African education system and Equal Education’s work. Before and after the show and during the interval concert goers will be able to visit exhibitions, donate money and speak to students who are involved in the movement. Equal Education’s members are predominantly high school students who meet weekly to discuss the challenges facing the country and our schools. They take action to improve their schools, and their efforts have in the past secured textbooks, libraries, school infrastructure and improved teaching. The money raised from this concert will be dedicated to this mission.

Concert-goers will spend an evening with Vusi Mahlasela, who is known as a peacemaker, social commentator and freedom fighter. He will sing songs of freedom, equality and courage. His voice and contribution to South African music have earned him a SAMA Lifetime Achievement award as well as the Order of Ikhamanga. He will be performing together will local bands, The Muffinz and Driemanskap.

Do not miss out on this explosive evening of music, activism and fun. Support Equal Education, its members, and their efforts to improve South Africa’s education sector.
