Dear Portfolio Committee on Employment and Labour,

My contract ended in 2022and been unemployed since then, been unsuccessful for jobs since then so I decided to apply for uif. I was treated rudely and abruptly at the Pietermaritzburg office and told I can't apply there's no money for me
I contacted the call centre and told to apply online, I did that, they told me claim was approved I must do continuation of payment, I did that, I was told to go to PMB office I did that also I wAS told payment was approved and will be paid in 13 to 15 days, I then went back again and then told my claim was now rejected due to some regulation that says it's more than 12 months, and I don't qualify
This regulation is so outdated especially in SA where people are struggling to get by and there's no jobs. The labour minister needs to be told this as well as the President, that regulation is so wrong and outdated, that is my money why can't I get it, who informed the public of that regulation and when was it communicated.
Therr are other departments that also pays out money claims that can be claimed 10 years latter why must labour have such a rediculous regulation.i want my money someone gonna answer for this, really. This is unacceptable that we can't claim after 12 months yet it's money that was contributed but my employer for times like this, people of SA are struggling to make ends meet.
Even if I get nothing out of this, please and this regulation for the poorest of the poor.God bless.
