Dear Portfolio Committee on Employment and Labour,
As a monthly contributor to the Unemployment Insurance Fund I would expect that said fund would be contractually obliged to honour their duty in paying out all monies due to me.
As a claimant this is not the case. My claim was assessed and I was awarded a certain sum.
I received three months payout, which amounts to one third of the money due to me.
I have not received a payment since June 2023.
I have sent innumerable emails to the UIF addresses and although I am told that my complaint will be investigated, nothing has been done to address this complaint.
The so called apps are of no help. According to this source my "payment is in progress" and has been so since June.
It is of interest that the UIF commissioner, Mr Teboho Maruping, has sent a task team to the Western Cape to assess the problems being experienced by claimants. This was reported on around 25th September 2023. Is the portfolio committee aware of this investigation, and if so, what measures have been put in place to ensure that the findings of this task team are to be made public?
More importantly what is this portfolio committee doing to ensure that the increasing number of unemployment claimants are receiving their due pay outs?
There needs to be a huge shake up at the relevant offices and, it would seem, especially the paymaster's offices.
It is a sad situation that ,as a collective, this committee is not making the unemployment fund a priority.
I await your response.
Regards
