Dear Portfolio Committee on Sport, Arts and Culture,
I am writing this with a positive mind and with full confidence that we can win medals at world-class events, as well as staging international events.
Governing of athletics in this country is in the hands of those who are not in the interest of the sport itself but to themselves. The constitution of the athletics agency is outdated and cannot be changed by clubs and only those in power.
The elections of representatives is unfair and does not represent the constituency in this country.
There is no transparency on the funds and bulk of the money is not on development of athletes but to salaries and officials costs.
Selections to athletes is done in an unfair manner and does not encourage competition among athletes.
Focus is on towns and rural areas are neglected. School sports is not supported more so financially.
Elite athletes are not supported financially as medal at national level do not come cheap, talent alone never worked.
We still have 17 provinces as opposed to nine and aligned to municipality boundaries to be able to work with Sports Development officials at municipal level.
The governing structure do not allow NPC and NPO to work together, instead the charge and suspect anyone who wants to hold them accountable.
