Subject: Complaint Regarding Lack of Assistance for Isilo sooDumba Global UnderTaker and Corporate Group (Pty) Ltd

Dear Portfolio Committee,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration regarding the lack of assistance provided by SEFA to my business, Isilo sooDumba Global UnderTaker and Corporate Group (Pty) Ltd, also known as Isilo sooDumba Funeral Home. I would like to bring to your attention the numerous instances where your organization has failed to fulfill its commitment to support small and medium enterprises, particularly those belonging to historically disadvantaged groups.

In 2021, I had the opportunity to interact with your representatives, specifically Nombuyiselo Lot and Zanele Panziso, who were responsible for assisting my business. As a government entity aimed at fostering the growth of black-owned SMMEs, SEFA plays a vital role in promoting economic empowerment and creating a more inclusive business environment. However, my experiences have been far from satisfactory.

Despite my expectations of receiving meaningful assistance and guidance from SEFA, I regret to inform you that my interactions with Ms. Lot and Ms. Panziso were marked by their inability to provide the necessary support my business required. As a manufacturer of Coffins & Caskets, as well as Tombstones and Headstones using the unique grenade stone material, my business holds great potential to contribute to both the local economy and employment opportunities for the community.

It is disheartening to share that the assistance offered by Ms. Lot and Ms. Panziso was limited at best, and their lack of understanding of my business's unique needs and challenges was evident. Despite their promises, I did not receive the guidance, resources, or connections that were essential for the growth and sustainability of Isilo sooDumba Funeral Home. As a result, my business faced unnecessary hurdles and missed opportunities that could have otherwise been avoided with appropriate support.

I strongly urge SEFA to reassess its commitment to assisting black-owned SMMEs like mine and to take immediate action to rectify the issues I have raised. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and play a pivotal role in job creation and economic development. It is imperative that organizations like SEFA fulfill their mandates effectively to ensure the success and prosperity of these businesses.

I kindly request a prompt investigation into my case and a written response outlining the steps that will be taken to address the shortcomings in the assistance provided to my business. I believe that by rectifying these issues, SEFA can reaffirm its dedication to promoting economic empowerment and contribute to the growth of businesses like mine.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response.

Sincerely,

MM Kedama
