Dear Portfolio Committee on Employment and Labour,

I started my maternity claim back in April online and in May I went to the Khayelitsha Labour office and gave in my documents after not getting any communication regarding my claim I went back to the Labour offices in Nyanga in June only to be told my documents were lost. I then resubmitted the documents keeping in mind that I was not at fault here and no apology was given for the mishandling of my documents. After resubmitting in June I got my first payment in July and received an email from a labour official saying I should submit a continuation of payment on the 26th of July which I did and to date no payment has been received. When I tried to reach out to the labour official who sent me the email to no avail.
It was my first time applying for maternity benefits and it has been a nightmare I must say, the 21 working days that I was advised to wait have passed and no explanation or apology to say there was a delay and it will reflect on this day.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
