Dear Portfolio Committee on Police,
My name is Kebalepile David Collins and I reside at Mahikeng North West province. I'm a member of Kgomo Modimo Wa Gae, which is an Anti Crime Community Based organization that has been formed to help the Police to fight Crime. We have done everything that you may think of and also engaged with all the necessary stakeholders for help, but unfortunately there's no one who is keen to consider our concerns or attend to our complaints. One of our concerns went as far as to the former speaker of parliament Ms Thandi Modise who referred our concerns back to North West legislature, like all other stakeholders they didn't attend.
We have a serious problem of people especially women who are brutally killed and unfortunately no suspects has ever been arrested nd we suspect that the police dealing with the killings are not keen to perform their duties properly as they might be colluding with criminals. We have more than 15 cases of brutal murders with one or two killings take place per year. We also have a series of TVs stolen from houses when people are asleep but no one arrested.
We have once more a serious challenge of Stockthef whereby lots of livestock are stolen on a daily basis but then Mahikeng stock theft unit members are suspected to be involved and failed to conduct fair nd proper investigation as they benefit some how from the activities.
We have appealed that the affected police officers nd units be investigated nd redeployed.
