Dear Portfolio Committee on Basic Education,

As parents we feel is unfair to pay R20 at spine road high school, Mitchells Plain when applying for grade 8. The school knows well they will only accept 250 kids out of (+/- 1500) learners applying and paying R20 to write a test.
How will we be able to get our kids into good schools, if they don't get the chance to prove themselves.
All the good schools In Mitchells plain has now come up with a plan of writing a test to be accepted at the school.
They are complicating things we there's no need to, as long as the parent is willing and able to pay school fees, we as parents feels the child should be accepted.
We live in a high crime area, and unfortunately we can't afford to live elsewhere and therefor we would like our kids to be in decent school as it is a important phase of their lives.
We don't want to apply at school out of our areas as it is dangerous for our kids to travel alone these days and public transport is Unreliable.
Please assist us in Mitchells plain and end the tests for grade 8 and have it removed from Mondale, Spine Road & Rocklands.

Very concerned Parent
