Dear Portfolio Committee on Employment and Labour,

For many years we have been receiving poor service from Department of Labour on all department under this organization, especially UIF & COIDA, their staff are so incompetent, there is no measure in place for service monitoring like SARS complaints department and as the result of this, we are not getting any service from this department, everything that get to be done through this department takes forever, and there is no reasonable grounds on the delay. This has caused negative impact on many SMEs, like loosing business due not getting safety documents on time, some business could not participate in tender applications because they are struggling to get documents from this department.
There is no SOPA in place for the staff to follow, all staff members are using different methods when handling queries. They always do not adhere to their turn around deadlines.
Dealing with this department is nightmare, they do not follow Batho Pele Principles.
I would like to request that service monitoring house and complaint department like ombudsman be established for this department, maybe knowing that they are monitored, they might pull up their socks.
