Absorption of unemployed social workers in Limpopo

Dear Portfolio Committee on Basic Education, would you please consider to absorb the unemployed social workers at schools especially around Limpopo province. I have observed that both our children and adults are in the most vulnerable position now. Children are killed by their own parents, they are affected by challenges of their own parents. If a partner decide to breakup with another, he/she revenge with innocent children by killing them. At schools our teachers are not safe coz our own children goes to school with dangerous weapons. When a teacher tries to discipline a child, he/she get stubbed or threatened by our own children. Why? Because they have never been taught and guided by someone they perceive as the most significant person from their childhood, others are trying to practice what they have observed from their own parents at home and others smoke nyaope or uses any kind of substance and that very substance affect their behavioural changes. They no longer perceive things in normal ways but differently which leads to disrespect. Our teachers cannot play a role of advocacy, guider, helper, educator, advisor n etc at the same time. They need more time to focus on their duties n also need main power to assist the children. Education and Social support goes hand in hand. They are like porridge and meat. Our grade 12 needs to be prepared psychologically before their entry level and even before writing their exams. Because any failure to this, when they obtain poor results , they end up hanging themselves. This also even happens at our tertiary institutions. They have never been prepared for their own journey/destiny. Our families also needs social support and educational support through what is observed from the child and all this killings of children by parents will come to an end. Let us not despise social support services it plays the most significant role in the lives of all our community members even to teachers themselves. I have also observed that some other children are fighting with teachers because those teachers were not demonstrating any respect when talking to the child. Some other children do not get love, warmth and even care from their own families. The school should provide to them. But how, only through Social Worker and this will also improve pass rate in our province. Let us not focus on money because it will always be there but a life of a person is what matters most and comes first as it comes only once.

I hope my concerns will be considered for better results and good health of our own children and families. Let us have the spirit of "MY CHILD, YOUR CHILD"

Thank you!!!
