Hence the Committee took a decision to visit all the provinces to assess the state of provincial tourism sector. Tourism is identified as a priority economic sector to fulfill the government's imperative to create sustainable jobs and to ensure that the developmental agenda is addressed in areas, particularly the rural areas. The second leg of the visit to the Eastern Cape was dedicated the Umthatha and the Wild Coast area to assess achievements of the sector and evaluate the nature of challenges, prospects for inclusive growth particularly in rural areas.
