REPLY:
The process of granting a pardon by the President of the Republic in
accordance with Section 84(2)(j) of the Constitution of the Republic of
South Africa, 1996, is handled by Department of Justice and Constitutional
Development. The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) assists by
providing information on offenders who have applied for presidential pardon
for political offences.
To date, DCS has not been informed by the Department of Justice and
Constitutional Development that the process has being finalised.
