Mrs M R Shinn (DA) to ask the Minister of Communications:
1) What is the status of the suspension of a certain person (name
furnished) and (b) what (i) salary and (ii) benefits are accruing to
the person while on suspension
2) (a) What outcomes does the SABC want to achieve in respect of this
issue and (b) what steps is it taking to achieve specified outcomes?
REPLY:
MINISTER OF COMMUNICATIONS
1. The remainder of the fixed term contract of Mr. Molefe was paid to him
on 31 May 2013 and therefore as from that date he is no longer an
employee of the SABC. Mr. Molefe has challenged the SABC in two High
Court Cases and one CCMA matter. In all three cases, the courts ruled
against Mr. Molefe and had awarded costs to the SABC in the two High
courts cases.
(b) (i) & (ii) Not applicable, Mr. Molefe is no longer an employee of
the SABC.
