About Sihle Zikalala

Sihle Zikalala was appointed Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure as of March 2023.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Science. In 2017, he achieved a Bachelor of Administration Honours cum laude from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Subsequently, Zikalala obtained a master's degree in commerce from the Graduate School of Business and Leadership in 2019. Before his redeployment to the National Parliament, he had been the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs in KwaZulu-Natal and a Member of the Legislature in the province. He has held various leadership positions in the ANC; from 2016 to 2019, he served as the MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government.

He served as the 8th Premier of KwaZulu-Natal from 2019 until his resignation in 2022 and as the Provincial Chairperson of the African National Congress from 2015 to 2022.
