Before her entry into South African politics, Ms Kopane worked both as a professional nurse and for the Cancer Association of South Africa. She also performed duties as a Municipal Councillor in the Mangaung Municipality. She was first elected to Parliament in 2009. In 2012 she was elected as the DA Provincial Leader of the Free State. She served as a member of the National Assembly in Parliament.
